Dil te daftar wahadat waalaa Daayam kareen mutaaliaa hoo

Saaree umraan parhhdiaan guzree Wich Jaihal de jaaliaa hoo

Ikko Ism Allaah daa diakkeen Eho sabaq kamaaliaa hoo

Dohen jahaan ghulaam unhaan de (Hazrat Bahu ) Jain dil Allaah sambhaaliaa hoo

In these couplets, comparison of the Outwardly and Inwardly Uloom has been made and this Hidayat has been given to the Seekers that:

HADIS

(Saying of the Holy Prophet of Allah Hazrat Muhammad Sal Allahu Alaihe Wa Aa-lehee Wa-sallam)

Ilm is a Nukta and its abundance is for the ignorant persons.

That is, Ilm is just a Nukta and a letter, that is, it is the Ilm of the Name Allah and Marifat and rest multiplicity of Ilm is for the ignorant persons. Hazrat Bulleh Shah Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe says:

You should avoid the excessive Ilm,

As only a letter will suffice for 'all that', you should acquire.

He, who, identified Allah, the entire Ilm came in his bosom. In short, Ilm of Rawayat (formal dictum) and the Ilm of Hidayat and the Ilm of Iqraar (declaration) are other whereas the Ilm of Tasdeeq (acknowledgement), Ilm of Juzve (part of the whole) and the Ilm of Juzve (subtle issues) are other and the Ilm-e-Kulli and the Aqal-e-Kulli are other and the Verbal Ilm and the Divine Ilm are other as Allah Almighty says concerning Hazrat Khizar Alaihis-Salaam:

And taught him knowledge from Our presence (18:65)

In these couplets, the distinction and difference has been explained between the Ilm-of-Outward (Outwardly Ilm) and the Ilm-of-Inward.
