It
is said that one day a Saint was sitting that his Nafs appeared
in a physical Bulk and sat in front of him on the prayer carpet.
That Saint says that when he saw his replica Bulk, he
asked it that who it was. It replied "I am you" (that is, it was his Nafs).
He fortified himself with all the capacity he had and intended to kill that
copy. Nafs yelled "you cannot kill me like this. Beating me goes opposite".
BAYT (COUPLET) Have you idea what Nafs is? Kaafir has
invaded your body, Kuffaar
and Jews keep friendship with the Nafs.
[Hence]
be watchful against Nafs [lest you should catch its trouble] May Allah
keep us in His refuge. QATA'A (Stanza) You have
encountered the Nafs that has character of Kufr
, You should trap
it in your snare, as it is very wonderful and strange prey, ? If a black
serpent is under your arm, it is better than this mischievous Nafs, It will give great damage to you by its
companionship.
Do
you know what thing the Nafs is? The [other name of] Nafs is greed
(and grasping) and as long as you will not give three divorces to
the greed, you can never get Waasil with Allah
Almighty. [Hence, the Nafs, greed
and desire should be completely given up]. BAYT e BAHU
(Couplet of Bahu
Rahmatu-Allahe
Ta-aala Alaihe) ? The thing, which takes life of the birds, is greed
for grains, That bird cannot see the trap in blindness of the
greed for the grains.
