HIKAYAT
It is said that Hazrat
Sultan Bayazid
Bastami
Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe
used to keep Fast
in the day and remained vigil (the nightlong) every night in worship. One
day he felt Khatraat during worship of Assalaat (Prayers). He asked
his companions to explore and investigate if Dunya (World) had entered their
house that day. Servants replied that "O Sultan
! Twelve years have passed that
neither we saw face of currency and Dunya (World) nor ate tasty meals.
Sultan
said that
rise of Khatraat** in his Prayers has certainly a link with
philosophy of presence of Dunya (World) inside the house. When the
servants swept the house, they found a Khurma (dried date) underfoot of
one leg of bed. They took it to him. He said that "that house, which has inside
it a commodity Dunya (World) even as negligible as a dry date, is house
of a trader".
Faqeer Bahu
Rahmatu-Allahe
Ta-aala Alaihe
says that the Faqeers
are of four kinds:
One is that Faqeer and in him is Hikmat
(philosophy) of Dunya (World) that Outwardly he looks distressed
(and agitated) but his Inward is festooned [because of the Anwaar
of Ilaahiya] for example Hazrat
Khizar Alaihis-Salaam
. One Faqeer
is such that his Outward condition is decorated and his Inward
is perplexed like the condition of Hazrat
Musa (Moses) Alaihis-Salaam
. One Faqeer
is he that his Inward and Outward are both extremely good
looking as was the case of the Overlord of Cosmos - Hazrat
Muhammad
Sal Allahu Alaihe
Wa Aa-lehee Wa-sallam
! One kind of Faqeer
is such that his Outward and Inward are both distressed (and corrupt)
like Bal'am Baoor
.
Hence, if Nafs demands Dunya (World),
the Faqeer should ask his Nafs that "go away and eat one hundred
onions from the basket [which you do not like to eat] and go unto the People-of-Dunya
and beg from them earning a dishonor because when you have lost hope in Allah, it
is your doom. Otherwise, do not go unto the people of world and beg not from
them. If the People of world to get the honor of a meeting, you should not
entertain and if they still come, tell them they are the People-of-Dunya
so be beaten by shoes hundreds of times that the Fitna (dissension and
temptation) of the Dunya (World) should leave them and then they
should come unto you, otherwise not". If the Taalib (Seeker) is Saadiq
(True and loyal) and keeps sincerity for Allah, his Nafs will accept
to avert the dishonor and will return after abnegation of Dunya
(World). The Hijaab causing his lead astray will destroy and he will
become Taarik Faqeer otherwise, Khatraat arise inside the
heart of the Faqeer when he gazes upon Dunya (World) which are brigands
on the Path of Faqar. We seek refuge in Allah
against such
situation

ABOUT BAL'AM BAOOR: He was a renowned
scholar and pious person in the Children of Israel in the era of Hazrat
Musa Alaihis-Salaam
. He had been engrossed
in mortification and Mujahida for forty years. He knew the Ism-e-Azam.
When he raised his head, he could see up to the Throne. Twelve thousand
scholars used to study in his company. He was Mustajaab-ud-Dawaat
. Due to his
curse, Hazrat
Musa Alaihis-Salaam
along with his
nation remained in problems in the valley of Tiya. When message of Allah
came
that He had granted him the power of Dawat
but he has been unthankful to Allah.
Had he shown gratefulness to Allah
even once in his entire life Allah
would
have not been not taken all the bounties back from him. Under lobbing of his
nation and after taking from them a lot of wealth and rewards, he wished a
curse against Hazrat
Musa Alaihis-Salaam
and the Children
of Israel that fell back on him. And it has come in Holy Quran that his condition
became so much worse like that dog which if beaten, would wheeze and if not
beaten, it would even then wheeze. He ended in state of Kufr and met ruination
due to a curse of a Messenger.
