order to invite the spirit, the Medium has to undergo Istaghraaq
or
unconsciousness which they call 'Trance'. Either the Medium himself goes in
Istaghraaq
or his assistant makes him unconscious through the magnetic sleep of
hypnosis. In such condition, the dominating spirit or demon occupies his head.
After this one can converse with it. Conversation and communication, in
preliminary stage, is done in signals of Khat Khat and Patt Patt like
Telegraph. That is, the Khat Khat of onetime, sometimes, implies affirmative
and two time Khat Khat (raps) implies negative for the question asked. A person
asks the desired question on the table and its affirmation or otherwise is
known by the onetime or two times Khat Khat produced by the spirit. Second
way is more advanced than above such that when spirit has dominated upon the
Medium and table shows some movement and the sounds of Khat Khat start coming,
then a person reads the letters of alphabet on the table and that letter in
response of which has come the sound of Khat Khat (raps), it is noted by
another person and those letters which have been noted in this way are arranged
in groups and pairs in order to find the answer of the Spirits
for the question
asked. This can only be done when the Dominant spirit is literate (and
lettered). Third
was is such that a heart shaped wood is crafted with one end long like a
pointer and wheels are provided under it so that it can move even in response
to a slight force exerted by the spirit. Medium puts his both hands on this
instrument and, sometimes, the Assistants also put their fingers of hand on the
hand of the Medium in order to make a link with the spirit. Letters of alphabet
are written in front of the table and the spirit incarnates in the body of the
Medium, it gives signal through the pointed end of the moveable device on the
table. * Assistant
notes these letters and, in this way, those letters which have been noted,
compile in the form of words and words make phrases and phrases make complete
sentences which is the answer of the spirit. Fourth
method is such that the Medium keeps a pencil in his hand and when the spirit
dominates him, it controls the movement of his hand and writes on a paper. This
is done by well-educated and lettered spirit. Fifth
way is that a pencil and blank papers are kept in an empty carton and Medium
puts his hand over that small carton box and those pages are automatically
inscribed by the self script of the spirit. In
Sixth method, spirit talks through the tongue of the Medium and replies
to questions, addresses the audience and gives lectures. Sometimes spirit
assumes an embodiment and appears in a visible form, touches the audience, mess
up things, plays bells and organs and drums, sometimes lifts the Medium up and
takes him away, takes things in and out of the locked rooms. In short it, it
does those things which are not understood by mind and perception and science
and philosophy are unable to explain such phenomenon and is beyond the scope of
