This Faqeer was once in a Masjid for Eitikaaf in the last ten days of the Holy month of Ramadhan. Another person was also staying there with same intention who seemed to be great vigil and hardworking. He used to say 'Allah Allah' all the night since Esha Prayers till dawn. One day I asked him that O slave of God! You toil so much. He told me that his Murshid has instructed him to say 'Allah, Allah' for twelve thousand times a day and he very hardly completes this in the whole night. I asked him that for how long you have been working so hard. He told me that he had been regularly exercising this effort and Mujahida for about last ten years. I asked him if he had achieved some Mushahida in Inward or not. He said: Not. Only up to this extent that he is just obeying the orders of his Murshid and his heart feels happy and satisfied under a psychic effect that he has done his duty and heart remains worried in case he has not done that completely. I said to him that O dear! Your effort is great but the reward is nothing. He said that it is essential to act upon the saying of the Murshid. I said that what the outcome of such vain and unfruitful order is. Well! That poor fellow continued to do that and I did not feel good to disturb him more. Many such people exercise hard and do lengthy Riyazat without need and through wrong vain modes and they get nothing other than pain and trouble as 'Toiling, weary (88:3)'. Allah Almighty is the Hayyu-Qayyum and He is the All Hearer and the All Seeing and He is also the Near and the Responsive. Allah's Essence is not (heaven forbid) a solid idol that He will not reply 'O Slave! I am Present' when the slave calls Him and there is no reason that He, in spite of being the Ghani (Rich) and Kareem (Noble and Generous), will not award His slave with compensation and reward if he worships Him with Pure (holy) intention or spends his Pure (holy) and clean wealth in His name without Riya!

*

That Zikr , Fikr , Prayer, Worship, Alms, Sadqa, quick effect and result is not seen and the slave is left without having received an Alaam or Ilhaam from Allah Almighty in dream, Muraqiba or wakefulness, it should be understood that that Prayer, Sadqa and Worships etcetera has not touched the pole of Acceptance and there has been some overlooking in its conditions and prerequisites and because of the Inwardly Fault and Imperfection, that thing has not met the Acceptance of God Almighty in His Court otherwise good tidings and Unseen Beckons of different kinds are got by the virtuous slaves of Allah Almighty after every Amal and each Worship!

Allah Almighty says: Lo! Those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the Angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but bear good tidings of the paradise which you are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter (41:30-31)

The human being should consider the Hazoori of heart as essential and mandatory in the worship, obedience, Dawat and Zikr Fikr. He should focus his gaze upon his intake and outtake of air and Damm so that no Damm and gulp of air should be without the Zikr of Allah as that breath which is released along with the thought and Visualization of Allah Almighty, it deposits as a priceless pearl for the Zaakir in his treasure for the Hereafter.

Every breath of every moment of life that passes away,

It is such a jewel having worth equivalent to the worth of Both-the-Worlds .

[Hafez Sherazi]
