Ainul Arifeen

1.      Nafs-e-Lawwama

2.      Nafs-e-Mulhimma

3.      Nafs-e-Ammara

4.      Nafs e Mutma'inna

And you have already come to know the signs of all the above four. Kill all four of them by the four. Remember the Four Names of the Name Allah.

1.      Zikr

2.      Fikr

3.      Qurb

4.      Wahdat of Haq in Hazoor

Clear indication has been given [in Holy Quran] concerning these Nafs Anfaas (bodies). [Allah Almighty said] "Take Four Birds, then cause them to incline towards you (then slaughter them, cut them into pieces), and then put a portion of them on every hill" (2:260). These are all the four Nafs [to which have been hinted in the Holy Quran]!

Thus, Shams Tabrezi Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe [Maulana Roomi Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe] says:

I was four, became three and now two,

And I crossed the Duality and got unified.

ANSWER OF THE WRITER (Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe):

Beginning one and the end also one,

Crossing across Duality is better than being angel.

The Nafs of the Arifeen causes the Qalb pure and sublime and the Qalb reaches unto Ruh and Ruh enters the Sirr of Lord and the Arif-Bi-Allah becomes the Master of Mysteries (Sahib e Asraar). And the Arif is never he, who has not seen and nothing is invisible from the Arif. The Arif-Bi-Allah is he, who Ain-Ba-Ain delivers the Seeker. He does not take the travails of devoutness (and worship) and of Riyazat because burning in the Tajalli of the Noor of Lord for a trice is far better than the hardships of the labor of hundreds of Chillas and Riyazat! He is called the "Drowned in the Noor of Lord Arif-Bi-Allah", who he gets the Seeker acquainted [with Allah] within his body. As a result, he should see the Nafs, Qalb, Ruh and Sirr distinct (and separated).

HADIS

(Saying of the Holy Prophet of Allah Hazrat Muhammad Sal Allahu Alaihe Wa Aa-lehee Wa-sallam)

He, who accomplished the identification of his Nafs, thus he accomplished the identification of his Lord.
