An extraordinary miraculous power outcome or achievement which is seen due to high spiritual status of someone like Aulia Allah is called Karamat. The similar thing if is seen from Non Muslims then it is Istadraaj. Plural is Karamaat. Please also read P211-212 (P156) of Makhzan al Asraar. Uprightness is called Istiqamat which implies that the Faqeer should remain safe against unrighteousness and should never allow the taint of Nafs and Satan in him. It also implies that he should never be desirous of anything else besides Allah. That unusual outcome that apparently seems impossible if that happens by the Aulia-Allah Rahmatullahi Taala Alaihim Ajmaeen then it is called Karamat and if such happens by a non believer then it is called Istadraaj. Since in Karamat there is possibility of the taint of the Nafs that is why Istiqamat is above Karamat (Dr. K. B. Naseem Rh.). The Muhabbat and Ishq of Allah Almighty is like an (oil) lamp and the Rujuaat-e-Khalq and Kashf and Karamaat are likeness of wind. That person who will not secure this lamp inside the house of Shariyat that lamp of Ishq and Muhabbat will not remain lit as that wind of Kashf and Karamaat will put it off (P189 Ain ul Faqar).
