Literally means (ardent spiritual staunch) Love. Ishq is that thing which burns and makes it naught from the heart every that thing which is of the Outsider of Haq (P184 Muhik ul Faqar Klaan). "What is Ishq? It is a Latifa (subtlety) which takes birth from the light of heart. [Alternatively you can say this that] Ishq is a Fire whose fuel is Siyasat (strict administration of justice) and it takes birth from Salamati (peace). Or Ishq is a grass (creeper) which creeps around a tree. On whichever heart it affects it makes him mad from Both-the-Worlds. First suffering (and enduring) so much silently is inside it and then is beholding (the Mashooq) Beloved. This is such a Course which is not known even by the Kiraman-Katibeen. Believe me that these People of Dunya (World) are the People of Satan who are always running after and remain worried for the sake of Dunya (World)" (P48 91 Jamey ul Asraar). Ishq means killing ones own Nafs and his heart remains in ache day and night and receives wound by this (P130 Muhik ul Faqar Klaan). Therefore the Ghaus ul Azam Pir Dastgeer Mahboob e Subhani the Shahbaaz e Lamakaani the Qutub e Rabbani Hazrat Shah Shaikh Abdul-Qadir-Jelaani Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe humbly asked a question from the Holy the Glorious Lord Almighty that ?O my Lord! What is Ishq? Reply was received that Ishq is that thing which burns everything to ashes every that thing from heart which is of the Outsider of Haq (P184 Muhik ul Faqar Klaan). The person who does Ishq is called Aashiq. Plural is Aashiqeen.
