That thing that halts or intervenes or acts like isthmus or divider in between two seperate things or places like a curtain or a bridge or a ladder of barrier is called "Barzukh (Bar-zukh)." Usually it refers to that place where the spirits of the dead people live after death before the Day of Decision. For the Seeker of Allah this intervention is of the Ism e Musamma that is why the Name Allah (the Essence) is called the Barzukh (Explanation of Dr. K.B. Naseem P18 Ain ul Faqar).
