Why to talk of far past, even in the initial period of government of these English people, the characters of the Muslims were so high that they received appreciation from their opponents and the enemies of their religion. These Muslims never told a lie even for the sake of their personal and individual benefits. In addition, even those matters in which there was the risk of loss of the whole nation and all people, they used to follow the course of truth and adhered to the following self-explaining verse of the Holy Quran for their action:

O you who believe! Be you staunch in justice, witness for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or (your) parents or (your) kindred (4:135)

Allah Almighty says: and let not hatred of any people deduce you that you deal not justly. Deal justly, that is nearer to your duty (5:8)

It is an incident of the early period of British Reign that a disputed arose between the Hindus and Muslims somewhere in the town of Kaandhla in the District of Muzaffar Garh regarding the ownership of a place of worship as the former claimed it an idol-temple and the later a Masjid. The English Magistrate recorded the declarations made from both ends and asked the Muslims that if amongst the Hindus were some person on the truthfulness of him they can trust. Muslims said that there was none such person. The same question was asked from the Hindus and they said that it was a very big occasion of test and was a sensitive matter of religion. However, there is a Muslim saint who never tell a lie. Perhaps, he will also adhere to that which is the truth of this matter. This saint was Mufti Ilaahi Bakhsh Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe (who was student of Hazrat Shah Abdul Aziz Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe). The Magistrate sent his peon to him requesting his to appear in the Courtroom. He replied to that peon that he had pledged with himself to never see the face of the English. The Magistrate sent him another message saying 'well! You do not see my face but please come as the matter is very critical and decision cannot be made without your presence'.

*

That saint came and stood facing opposite to the face of the Magistrate. He was briefed about the situation and was asked to tell what he knew about it. Courtroom was stuffed with Hindus and Muslims and gazes of all were on his face and all were silent to listen to his words. He untied his lips with words like this:

'The right is this that this place belongs to Hindus. Muslims have no relation with it'. Court decided against Muslims and that place was given to Hindus. Muslims had lost a national case but Islam had won a moral conquest. Display of truthfulness and highest Islamic moral fiber had won the hearts of many non-believers in loss of some square yards of land. The same day, many Hindus embraced Islam on the hand of Mufti Ilaahi Bakhsh Rahmatu-Allahe Ta-aala Alaihe and the drum of the highest moral fiber of Islam was beaten and heard in places distant and far.

Besides the Conscience, Ilm and Excellence and the Faith and Wisdom was also considered a precious and sacred stuff of possession selling which to any cost to the hands of the Outsiders was considered a great sin. The previous Ulema-e-Aamil of our nation valued it as a priceless gift of Allah Almighty and a national trust. Spending it especially for the indirect and direct support and help to the Kufr, Shirk and abomination and vices (Fisq O Fajoor) and using it in capacity of a tout for system of a Kaafir Ruler, was considered a big national dishonesty and treason to Eimaan. Of similar good stature and sound nature was a saint known as Maulana Abdul Raheem Raampuri (in 1634 Hijri). An English Administrator of Roheel Khand, Mr. Hokinson, offered him 250 Rupees monthly pay for teaching in Baraily College. This amount offered before the year 1857, was almost equivalent to 1200 Rupees (in 1955). He was further assured to get promoted further in terms of office and remuneration. Maulana Abdul Raheem Raampuri used this excuse that he was being given 10 Rupees from state which will be stopped. Hokinson said that he was, but, offering him ten times more than this stipend from state. What is the value this small stipend in comparison with such big amount of 250 Rupees.
