Thus, arrogance and ego are such a successful tool of Satan that one cannot remain safe against it except through the Waseela of Murshid and this medicine of Waseela proves the biggest antidote and the greatest elixir against this fatal disease. However, keep this in mind that everything remains honorable and beneficial when kept within balance and the excessiveness or shortage is not suitable in any way. Courtesy and abjectness is, though, a good thing but it should also have a limit. It is not desired that the respect and honor given to the Prophet is more than God and a Wali is exalted higher to a Prophet. Respect for parents and teacher has its limit. Murshid and Wali has his own degree and his respect and honor is due according to his Station and Martaba. Also, though, the Martaba of the Prophet and Messenger is superior to all creation of God but it should not be considered higher to the Martaba of God and that reverence and respect, that is, the Prostration, which is allowed only for the Pure (holy) Essence of Allah Almighty in order to show one's Abudiyat , it should not be shared with any mortal being in any way.
It will be atheism if you will not give due regard to the Maratib !
And the undue and unwarranted courtesy and unwanted humbleness, at every place, displayed as a usual practice, makes a person undignified in his eyes as well in the eyes of others and it also ruins the useful urge of confidence and self-reliance and makes a person cowardly and nerveless.
Courtesy, no doubt, is a deed of goodness and has great bounties, But it should not be beyond a limit as it ruins the dignity of the person.
Hence, humility and courtesy is of two kinds: One is Mahmood (laudable) and the other is Mazmoom (despicable). Courtesy and respect given to some irreligious worldly person, rich or cruel person, a Faasiq (Miscreant), Faajir (sinner) Ruler for one's worldly temptation and inviting profit for him, is illegitimate and unjust but rather it is totally Haraam.
HADIS (Saying of the
Holy Prophet of Allah
His two third portion of the Faith is lost who gave respect and courtesy to some worldly person for the sake of just Dunya (World).
*
How great threat this is! The great Saints used to be very cautious in this
regard and considered it very grave sin giving respect and courtesy to some
worldly person but moreover they dealt with the worldly persons and the rich and
wealthy persons with severe disregard and heedlessness. Hence, it has come
'being arrogant with the arrogant is worship'
